Before you pay for an evaluation, run through this checklist. Every item here maps to a real, commonly reported problem in the funded-trading industry.

Rules and structure

• Is the profit target, daily loss limit, and overall (maximum) loss limit stated in exact, unambiguous numbers — not vague language?
• Is it clear exactly how and when the daily loss limit resets (server time, specific hour, calendar day)? This specific point is a common source of disputed rule violations.
• Are there minimum trading day requirements, and do they fit a timeline you can realistically commit to?
• Are there restrictions on strategy — news trading, weekend holding, EA/bot use, hedging, copy trading — and does your actual strategy conflict with any of them?
• Is there a maximum position size or lot size per trade, separate from the loss limits?

Payout and money

• Is the profit split percentage stated clearly, and does it stay the same over time or scale with performance?
• Is the payout schedule (how often you can request a payout) stated clearly?
• Is there a minimum payout amount or a fee deducted from payouts?
• What is the refund policy, if any, for the evaluation fee if you pass?
• Are there any recurring fees for a funded account (platform fees, data fees, inactivity fees) beyond the initial evaluation cost?

Firm reputation and track record

• Search the firm’s name together with “payout” or “withdrawal problem” — independent trader reports (forums, review sites, social media) are more informative than the firm’s own testimonials page.
• How long has the firm been operating, and is that verifiable independently rather than just stated on their own site?
• Is the firm’s legal entity, registered address, and jurisdiction disclosed, or is that information hard to find?
• Do independent reports describe consistent adherence to the firm’s own stated rules, or frequent disputed rule interpretations favoring the firm?

Before you commit

• Have you read the full terms document, not just the marketing page or FAQ summary?
• Does the evaluation fee fit comfortably within a budget you’re prepared to lose entirely, given that most industry-wide attempts don’t pass?
• Have you compared at least one alternative firm’s rules and fee, rather than evaluating only the first one you found through an ad or referral link?

The practical takeaway

• Treat the rule reset mechanics and loss-limit definitions as seriously as the profit target — this is where disputed evaluations most often happen.
• Independent trader payout reports are worth more than the firm’s own marketing claims.
